Get ready for one of the most creative and entertaining events of the summer! Chomper's Cardboard Boat Race is returning to KOPFC, and this year the challenge is bigger than ever.

Gather your teammate, grab some cardboard and duct tape, and put your boat-building skills to the test as you race across our 50-meter pool. Whether your boat glides to victory or sinks in spectacular fashion, you're guaranteed an evening full of laughter, creativity, and unforgettable memories.

New this year, participants will race the full 50 meters, nearly doubling last year's 25-yard course. Do you have what it takes to make it across?

Location: Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center (KOPFC)
50-Meter Pool

Check-In Opens: 5:30 PM

Race Begins: 6:30 PM

Cost: $10 per team

Team Size: 2 participants per boat

Age Requirement: Ages 6 and older

Registration Opens: June 10, 2026, at 8:00 AM

Registration Closes: August 9, 2026, at 10:00 PM

Team Requirements

Teams may consist of:

Two youth participants
One adult and one child
Two adults

Please register under one name per team.

Boat Building Rules

Participants must build their boats using only:

Cardboard
Duct tape

All boats must pass an inspection before entering the water.

Awards

Speed Boat Award

Awarded to the team that completes the race in the fastest time.

Titanic Award

Awarded to the team with the most spectacular sinking.

Chomper's Award

Awarded to the team with the best overall design and theme, including both the boat and crew.
